ED-visa - how easy to change and studying at Uni

Featured Replies

I have two parts to my question about education visas and hoping some people here with experience with them can answer:

a.) If I come to Thailand first on an ED-visa and then manage to obtain a job, how easy would it be to then change to a Non-imm B visa?

b.) I have seen posts over the years of people getting the ED-visa to study Thai. What about if I come to study at a university in Thailand on a multi-year degree program? I see many posts that ED-visas only last for like a year maximum but from what I can tell these are all cases involving studying at Thai language schools. But what about for a graduate/post-graduate degree program of study that would last for more than a year to begin with?

No problem. I came to Thailand on an Ed Visa, before I had even finished my Thai language course I was offered work, I finished the course and with the employers documentation went to Vientiane to get my Non Non B visa.

Register with a Thai language school, pay for the course in advance they will send the documents to you in your home country to take to a Thai Consulate, who will issue the visa to you there.

Talk to some schools, talk with them on skype, get confident with them and transfer the money to their Thai account.

P M me if you want the name of a reputable school, that will not rip you off.

a. You would have to leave the country to get a new visa.

b. If studying at a University you would be able to get one year extensions of stay until you complete your studies.

Is the Uni course all in English?

I can assure you that most Thai Uni courses don't carry much weight back in the Western world other than a curiosity item on your C.V.

But as they say - Up 2 U.
