North Pattaya Bus Terminal Festive Season Safety Inspection

PATTAYA: On Christmas Day the Chonburi Transport Department conducted an unannounced inspection of the Bus Terminal in North Pattaya to ensure adequate safety measures are in place for passengers, including a check on drivers to make sure they are not driving whilst over the limit.

Khun Kosin, the head of the Provincial Transport Department led the inspection which included internal and external checks of the buses, such as checks on tyre pressures and ensuring seat belts inside the buses were in working-order.

A small selection of drivers, some appearing extremely nervous, were asked to take a breath test to ensure they were not driving with excess amounts of alcohol in their systems. They all passed the test and were allowed to return to their duties.

....................drivers to make sure they are not driving whilst over the limit..................

Would it not be better to say: "not over the limit whilst driving"? The above suggests they do a lot more drinking than driving.

Oh, wait a minute.............giggle.gif

When are they going to update the rolling screen that says the fare on a baht bus is only 20 baht ...when in reality they rip off travellers that don't know the score in Pattaya/Thailand... its been a few months since I was there - so maybe ho ho ho it actually has been sorted under the new junta... doubt it.

As for inspection - they would have trouble inspecting the tickets on a bus never mind the vehicle itself....you can see they are dressed as Thai "time served" mechanics.

Christmas Day - bah humbug.

Get them to blow in the bag NYE / New Years Day burp.gif

Why no drugs tests on the drivers and why no emission tests on the buses ?many old buses on the roads in Pattaya are spewing black smoke some in poor condition

Just got back this evening on the last Bell Bus from BKK. Lots of lighting wagons staged there.... Looks like a film lot. Wasn't there when I went up on the 13.00 bus.

So, what is "over the limit" mean? Sounds like "not drinking Too much".

I am more worried about other drugs like yabaa than booze to be honest.
