How do I see a skin specialist in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Hello, I have yet to use the Thai health system and need some advice.

I have a small lump on my chest and would like to see a skin specialist just to eliminate the possibility of it being cancerous. I have had something similar removed from my calf some years ago.

What is the procedure for seeing such a specialist? Do you just go to the local hospital? Thanks in advance.

The issue here is that very few doctors have experience with fair skin Caucasians (if that is you) so will often not have much skin cancer experience and the more effective liquid nitrogen is often not available - and beauty laser will be used for removal. Be sure they test any area and have pathology made (it should only cost about 1,000 baht extra) unless 100% plus sure it is not cancer. Especially if you have had any skin cancer previously. So best to find a doctor that has experience in Europe/Oz/USA if you can.

That said skin is treated by dermatologist at a hospital - I would not visit a skin clinic for anything more than cosmetic issues (but being male have none - we like our scar marks).smile.png

Wait for Sheryl as she may have specific recommendations for doctor.
