Cost for renewing passport (Aus)

Featured Replies

I just received an email from the Austrailan Embassy in BKK saying that the cost for renewing my passport is 8850 baht for 32 pages. It's been quite a while since I did it last time but I don't remember it being anywhere near this much. Anyone else done a renewal lately and if so, how much did you pay? 8850 seems absolutely ludicrous.

Looking at this webpage for passport fees it will be $250 plus $100 for a overseas surcharge. That comes out to 8946 baht at today's exchange rate. https://www.passports.gov.au/Pages/Fees.aspx

your new passport will be biometric so I don't know if that affects the costs.

Still it's only 885 baht a year or 2.5 baht a daysmile.png

Of course the biometrics drive the cost high and are standard in most countries nowadays.

Difficult to travel to many countries with a non-biometric passport.

The $100 overseas surcharge was introduced on 01/07/2015. Another Julie Bishop initiative.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
