siliconvalley
Wow... Another suicide. How much money was found at the deceased room? Robbery seems to always not be a part of struggle.
Briggsy
Ha ha, the police and their cigarette butts, their answer to any death. A quick cursory glance at the cigarette butts and their other favourite, "signs of a struggle", allows them to immediately determine the circumstances of death. Suradit69
Wow... Another suicide. How much money was found at the deceased room? Robbery seems to always not be a part of struggle. Once again the bar stool crime scene investigators (BS-CSI) attribute an unfortunate death to sinister forces. Holiday depression combined with possible alcohol, money and "love" issues and the prospect of returning home to dismal winter weather can be too much for some. Certainly more plausible than some thief or bar girl hurling a grown man off a balcony. Edited December 31, 2015 by Suradit69

zyphodb
Yet another one? It would be interesting to compare suicide numbers of Thailand tourists to other equivalent tropical tourist destination countries, especially balcony jumping, to see whether our suspicions are as probable as they seem to us.... I don't suppose they will check the butts for Thai DNA as Thais would not do anything to assist a bungi jump without cord.

jamie2009
How narrow is the gap between buildings to take an hour to extract the corpse? sabaii69
Just wondering if a high rise hotel in Pattaya was to be named ' the broken hearts & suicide hotel ' would anyone check in? ( you can check in but you can never leave ) Hotel California (the hotel 'Heartbreak Hotel' famous in song was in a very remote, lonely part of Florida in Keenansville-gas station and bar there and you've seen it all). Go to nearby 'yeehaw junction' which is much busier with a small restaurant and two gas stations. yawn. Oh, and why do they put 'suicide' as such in these reports? hutchings1963
Yet another one come all the way here to commit suicide,if he wanted to top himself why would the table be upside down, and also does he smoke? i think if he wanted to die he would have stayed in Sweden, much cheaper than a flight all the way here. smotherb
Guys, this is not a joking subject, show some respect please. While I agree this is not funny, especially to the deceased's family and friends; but it is peculiar. Why do so many farangs commit, or are associated with, suicide here in Thailand? Are there really that many unstable farangs who seek the comforts of Thailand to die; or whose instabilities exponentiate here to the point of ending it, or who are so gullible that the temporary relationships with sex or drugs they may encounter overwhelm their senses? springheeled jack
another dodgy farang death in the los so many seem to come just to commit suicide ? I find it hard to believe heres a man in his prime everything before him obviously a lot on his mind decides to kill himself ? RIP
Thailaw
Tragic. But why the overturned table?. Better to stand on the bottom of the legs than the glass top?. The reason for putting the table upside down is obvious--with only three legs (points of support), the table, if upright, will be very unstable. If you aren't very careful when standing on the table, you might fall....... Edited December 31, 2015 by Thailaw
IamNoone88
Often a phone call can save such a tragedy. We would all help friends in need if only they asked and we had the means to do so. Trouble is its always tough to ask for help.
Michael8511
Smotherb, I agree but also in our home countries it's a high rate is suicide that never make the headlines as it does in Thailand. The reason can be several incl the ones you mention. I also believe that money and overspending on sex and alcohol is a huge factor. But again this is speculation but it's sad that people have nothing else to make fun of than Thai police and treads like this is not the place. grantbkk
He knew the risks. 100% chance Thai Visa's pack of angry older gentlemen with little or no pension armed with an internet connection would wade in with wry humor and disrespect. This noble group of uniformed (tank, shorts and flip flops) busybodies have saved the lives of many a man contemplating suicide. No one wants their families to have to read through what these elderly wisemen post every time someone dies of the Pattata Plunge. These poor, often overlooked, happy hour chasers deserve their 2 small beers tonight. Happy New Year!
