Top Superstars Open New Golf Course in Pattaya

World Ranked Number 37, Kiradech Aphibarnrat along with LPGA star Thidapa Suwannapura and a host of other professional golfers, officially opened the new Lakes course at Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club in Pattaya today.

Pirapon Namtra the well known Thai designer, created this new nine hole course in a record eight months, having also re worked the club's other 18 holes, Mountain and Ocean courses.

Namatra was also responsible for designing Banyan Golf Resort in Hua Hin, Santiburi in Koh Samui plus he helped build Siam Country Club's Waterside.

Employing a team of over 200, Namatra's company Golf East has now completed over THB100 million of upgrades at the club since 2012.

Kiradech Aphipbarnrat agreed that the new nine holes would be a fun course to play for Professionals and tourists, and he was happy to be able to attend the opening after driving back overnight from the recent tournament in Khao Yai.

Thidapa Suwannapura, whose home is also in Pattaya, recently overcame a painful hip injury to claim a creditible 2nd place at the Dubai Omega Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour. For her courageous efforts, the Club has made her an Honorary Member, which allows her to practice whenever she is in Thailand.

Phoenix Gold Golf and Country club said that the new Lakes course will be open to all golfers from January 1st 2016.

I seem to remember a Doonsbury character, (the Duke), long ago, responding to reports of a superstars concert in Thailand, retorting " there are no superstars in Thailand" ...

Contextually speaking, according to the Thais there are about 70 million superstars in Thailand. coffee1.gif

Since there has always been a Lakes 9 at Phoenix it is hardly a completely new nine hole course.

Remodelled may be a better description although I have no idea of the extent of the changes..

"Top superstar" like there is no better on this planet. Hate those words.

Wonder where the records are kept to remodel a golf course in Thailand? 8 months would probably break the longest time record for 9 holes. And it still opened too quickly.

looks more like "bottom superstars" rather than top. Superstars general public has never heard of.... well.....

Too little. Too late. The premature opening is a desperate attempt to attract

business to a mediocre golf course that has been mismanaged for the last 2

years. They continue to disrespect their members, residents and customers,

with high prices and unsatisfactory playing conditions. The 100 million baht,

if it is to be believed, has resulted in no overall improvement in the playing

experience. If there is a blueprint for bankrupting a golf course, they are

right on track....again!

It is shocking that the 2 "superstars" read the carefully scripted

compliments about Phoenix when the Club is being boycotted

by it's members, residents and most local golfers due to the

high prices and disrespectful treatment.

Would they play there if they had to pay the high green fees,

instead of receiving financial benefits?
