TheCruncher
547 motorcycles and only 65 cars seized.................. Indeed selective policing !! Wonder how many BMW, Mercedes or Lexus have been seized?? The irony is, since art 44 is invoked, it practically gives the police carte blanche to be even more corrupt................... No, not seized but 'detained'. The OP talks about 612 vehicles seized. Later it mentions 334 motorcycles impounded. That should suggest 278 cars or other type of vehicles impounded as well. Mind you, with articles like the OP numbers are just that, numbers. Any relation with the real world seems near pure coincidence. The OP clearly states 547 motorbikes and 65 cars detained. Bangkok Barry
547 motorcycles and only 65 cars seized.................. Indeed selective policing !! Over 80 percent of accidents/deaths etc involve motorcycles. Nothing selective going on.

As non-native English speaker I just checked the official meaning of 'detain'. Indeed mostly as in 'keep in custody', but also 'keep from proceeding'. The last had example 'detained by heavy traffic'. None of this really matters. I'm sure tomorrow we'll have a new set of figures which may or may not be easily correlated with previous figures provided.

The BMW, Benz and Lexus owners RENTED a 'disposable' Camry, Teana or Fortuner for the holidays... just in case.
