Drought in Ayutthaya intensifies

AYUTTHAYA, 5 January 2016, (NNT) - Locals in the Sena district of Ayutthaya have lodged complaints about collapsed roads, due to the intensified drought.

About 40 meters of the road linking Sena district and Wadchaopadsongtri Temple about a meter wide, causing heavy traffic congestion in the area.

Initially, officials installed barriers and road signs to warn motorists about the damaged road. They also discovered that another small road leading to Ladbualuang district on the opposite side has entirely collapsed.

According to the locals, the collapse was triggered by severe droughts, which rapidly depleted the water in nearby canals. They believe more erosion would soon occur as well, and have been urging officials to quickly look into the matter.
