Court President Faces Corruption Trial This Month

A clerk at the Kandal Provincial Court said they will hold a hearing for the case of former president of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court Aing Maltey at the end of this month.

Meach Sokha, the clerk, added that for this case, Mr. Maltey was charged with misappropriation made by civil servants under Article 37 of the Anti-Corruption Law and Article 601 of the Penal Code. He faces 10 years in prison if found guilty.

“The investigative judge has already closed the investigation in this case and has already sent it to the provincial court for the trial,” he told Khmer Times. “The trial will take place at the end of this month.” He declined to give any other details about the case.
