All sectors gear up for Children’s Day activities

BANGKOK, 7 January 2015 (NNT) – The government is ready to hold a celebration of the upcoming National Children’s Day at Government House while many agencies are launching campaigns to bring happiness to children across the country.

As part of the commemorative event for the National Children’s Day this Saturday, an exhibition is being arranged at Government House to display New Year greeting cards sent to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha by children in every corner of Thailand. In most of the cards, the young senders wished the premier happiness, good health and strength to carry on his tasks this year.

Many offered him moral support in solving the country’s problems and ending conflicts while some requested help for rubber farmers. Many cards also carried light-hearted messages for the premier.

Meanwhile, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation has given 800,000 sets of classroom supplies, worth a total of 24 million baht, to various schools nationwide via provincial agencies. The donations are intended as Children’s Day presents for the students.

In Yala, Governor Doldej Padhanarath has opened the Children’s Day Fair in Yupo Municipality. On this occasion, he also presented a sum of money as a gift to a 10-year-old girl who was suffering from terminal cancer.

Varmints on the loose! Look out!

Hehee so the schools were ordering the teachers to get the students to make cards for Mr. P. I'm sure the students were given happiness in doing this because it took even more time away from a real classroom and real studies.

Greeting cards from EVERY corner of the country ?

I wonder how many were sent from Ian for example ?

Good to know all military vehicles have been moved. They do that for Songkran, too. Super devious! whistling.gif

I recently had cause ( entirely legally and properly) to walk through the MT park of a RTA infantry battalion.

To be frank I would be very surprised if more than 20% of the vehicles could move!

Yeah, all are gearing up- especially the Army, to let toddlers play around with tanks and guns and riffles!

Best toys for children EVER!!!!

I don't now about bringing happiness to the kids, but I know of one 63year old farang that Its bought happiness to on the couple of times that I've attended, a good day out.

Their parents must be overwhelmingly proud to see the kids are playing with the right tools instead of reading books and search for indexed information on the web...

reminds me of the movie "Starship Troopers"

This morning the traffic around soi Yothi in Bangkok was worse than ever. Seems the Ministry of Science and Technology already organised some children's activities. Lots of classes walking and blocking the traffic. Real fun.

"Childrens day special guest speaker. Oww, stop crying, itttt'ssss Prayuth and his puppet."

When I was young I would ask my mom why isn't there a kids day and she would reply 'every day is kid's day!'.

That depends on whether Ian's wife was helping him with envelopes and stamps?thumbsup.gif

This explains why we've been asked to buy ice cream for the local schools. I hold a fund donated by my Mum to help the local kids, we've fed them a few times and bought books, musical instruments etc.

When we do food for them (about 160 from the small rural school at the nearby temple) the whole extended family get involved in preparing, cooking and serving it. Life can be pretty tough around here and the occasional provision of good food is clearly appreciated. I must say that even for a grumpy old git like me it is very rewarding.
