Comprehensive insurance if vehicle older than 5 years?

Neighbor went off the road with his older pickup and is screwed because he only has liability insurance. He said that for a vehicle over 5 years old you can only get liability insurance for the other guy. He said that what I know as comprehensive insurance, that is coverage for your own vehicle, is unavailable if your car is more than 5 years. Is this true? Surely somebody will insure an older car if you are willing to pay the premium.

You can get it for vehicles older than 5 years...I have it on my 7 year Fortuner. Didn't have to do anything special to get the coverage once the vehicle went over 5....it was just a normal annual renewal. Expect the neighbor is getting confused between 1st, 2nd, and 3d class insurance...and the govt insurance required to get the annual vehicle/road tax renewal.
