left leg and arm pain

Featured Replies

Now for my next problem, been experiencing a little pain and numbness in my left leg when jogging, mostly from the knee down to foot, also on the inside of my left elbow, can only feel it when i twist my arm. been going on about 6 weeks now, but before i could only feel it when jogging, it got progressively worse the longer i went, but after i cooled down it was ok and back to normal , couldnt feel anything. last week or so can now feel it all the time, and cannot exercise at all.done a little research already, but would like also to get the opinions of the medical people on here, not easy for me to rush off and see the doctor, takes some time and planning cause of where i work , so want to start here. i was wondering cause i have gastritis, would my body have problems absorbing the nutrients before they passed through, im always fatigued and tired and yawn from the moment i wake till the moment i go to sleep, and i get good sleep every nite, 8 hours min. my diet is prob not the best, but i think its ok. was also wondering if it would be advisable to get a test done to see if i have any vitamin deficiencies, and if so where in Bangkok could get this done, also if anyone knows the cost. the only other thing i can think of right now is , i always used to take anti inflams, ( piroxicam mostly ) for psoriatic arthritis, but the last few weeks been giving my body a rest from them, could it be i have some inflammation somewhere causing this new problem. Thanks to everyone taking the time to read this and offer any advice.

It is possible that these symptoms are related to your psoriatic arthritis and I suggest you consult the doctor who manages that or, if you don't have one/aren't satisified with whom you have then suggest one of these at Siriraj:

Prof. Wanruchada Katchamart

Prof. Praveena Chiowchanwisawakit

If they think not due to the psoriasis then next stop would be a specialist in Sports Medicine but I'd start with this.

Any hospital can test for B12, iron and Vit D levels. But no need to test for iron unless you are anemic which a simple blood count will show. Other vitamins are harder to test for. Frankly rather than trying to get all sorts of expensive tests I would just get a regular blood count (check for anemia) and cobalamin levels (B12) and otherwsie just try a high potency vitamin/mineral supplement first to see if it makes a difference. Make sure it includes magnesium.

Gastritis per say will not cause any malabsorption but if you are on PPIs (as is likely) these can interfere with magnesium and B12 absorption and, less commonly, with iron, calcium and Vit C.

As you may know, piroxicam can cause or worsen gastritis, a point to discuss with the doctor

I find that a combination of Vitamin B-1, B-6, and B-12 (methylcobalamin only) helps restore feeling in my hans and feet. It might help you. Combination B-1, B-6 and B-12 pills are available and you can buy B-12 Methylcobalamin (the easily absorbed variety) to supplement the cyanocobalamin in the combo pill across the counter at most any drug store.

Thank you very much Sheryl, and DogNo1 , i did forget to mention for the gastritis im currently on a course of Nexium, Mucosta, Domp-M and Xanidine, but the leg pain started well before i started taking those. i have already began to drink electrolyte drinks, and have found a good multi vitamin , with plenty of B vitamins and minerals, very lucky to find where i am . so hopefully that does the trick and i can exercise again soon. Thanks again.

Some bottled waters have added fluoride; which is officially good for teeth; but in reality dead poisonous.

One simple test I did, with similar symptoms, was to eat some Tamarind - available everywhere here-

It got better overnight.

Tamarind binds with metals and your body flushes it in urine.

If it's not that; you only have eaten a favorite fruit of Thailand !
