Onward flight question

Featured Replies

I'm visiting my brother for an undetermined length of time. I've booked an onward flight to KL for 8 weeks after my arrival as he assures me that I will be able to get an extension to the 30 day tourist visa. Am I likely to have a problem boarding my flight to Thailand as I don't have the 60 day visa?

  • Yes, if you don't have a visa the airline may not let you fly if you don't have an onward ticket dated within 30 days of arrival. You are best advised to get a tourist visa before traveling.

If you do travel/enter without a visa (visa exempt entry) you will have no problem extending it by 30 days.

You might as there is no 30 day tourist visa !

If you intend arriving without a visa the airline may refuse you boarding if you do not have a flight out within the 30 days allowed by a visa exempt entry.

I have kind of the same situation, and I am being extra cautious. I am getting a one entry tourist visa good for 60 days. I arrive Bangkok on May 17, 2016 from Seattle with a USA Passport. I have a return to Seattle booked on August 10. I do have a three day trip booked on July 13-16 to Ho Chi Min City. In my understanding, I will be allowed entry back into thailand on July 16 from Ho Chi Min City on a "visa-less" entry good for 30 days on my USA passport. I should have no problem with the airline because even though my return ticket is more than 60 days from my entry into Thailand, I do have a confirmed ticket out of the country and back.

Does anyone see any problem here?

What is the turnaround for getting a visa by post in the UK? Does anyone know? I don't think I have enough time as I'm going in two weeks!

Should only take few working days. You've plenty of time.
