I'm a retired expat from the US living in Chiang Mai for 7 yrs. I also lived in Thailand 73-78. I'm currently writing a book and part of it includes the secret war in Laos. I would like to know if there are any retired expats living in the Udon area that were around at that time and who may have been affiliated with the CIA and/or Air America. Also if anyone could provide me with perhaps some names of bars, restaurants,etc.that expats frequent should I make a visit there in the near future. Any info and help would be appreciated. Thanks.

When I lived in Udon 10+ years ago, there was still a US Veterans organization there, forget if VFW or American Legion. That would be worth you checking out if it still exists.

Udonmap.com has a forum with a lot of long term expats.
