BANGKOK: -- Predawn rains lashed several areas of Bangkok, causing a dozen of road accidents and traffic jams on many roads on Monday morning.

Traffic police reported at least 10 road accidents on Ratchadapisek road alone after rain began falling at about 6.00 am in many districts of Bangkok’s eastern and central areas.

JS100 Radio reported formation of two rain clouds in the capital’s inner and eastern areas at 5.30 am.

Half an hour later, rainfalls were reported in several areas of Chatuchak, Latprao, Wang Thonglang, Huey Kwang, Din Daeng, Suan Luang, Bangkapi, KlongToey, Bung Khum, Saphan Soong and Prawes.

The rains started falling as Bangkok people were leaving their homes in all directions to work, mostly in the capital’s inner areas.

Traffic jams were reported on Ratchadspisek, Vibhavadi Rangsit, Latprao, Ramkhamhaeng, Din Daeng, Rama IV, Boromratchonee, Ratchadamnoen, Larn Luang, Sam Sen and Withayu.

The Meteorological Department forecast cloudy sky over Bangkok tiday with rains expected to cover 10% of areas.

Average minimum temperatures today is 23-25 degrees Celsius, and average maximum 31-32 degrees.

It said another round of high pressure system is covering upper Thailand and South China Sea as westerly wind from Myanmar is still flowing in to the Northeastern region.

This will result in dropping temperatures in the Northeast from tomorrow until end of the week.

Meanwhile the southern sea from Surat Thani province down to the south, high waves of 1-2 metres are expected during the period.

I was thoroughly enjoying some raindrops during what is know to be a rainless period of the year smile.png

Not a single drop in the Dusit area and going to BTS Victory Monument I still saw nothing. Pity as a short downpour could have clear the air of dust a bit.
