Commerce Min strives to increase demand for rubber

BANGKOK, 12 January 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Commerce is seeking new market channels to absorb rubber supplies in the country by increasing links between producers and industries in need.

Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade Wiboonlasana Ruamraksa stated that the problem of price decline in the rubber industry is being tackled urgently by the Commerce Ministry. In an attempt to shore up demand as well as prices, she said the ministry is scouring the market for industries that may need to use rubber as a raw material.

So far, new demands have been found among producers of rubber pillows and floorings. The producers claimed processed rubber can be worth up to three times more than natural rubber in the market.

Any industries in need of rubber will be listed on the website of the Internal Trade Department in order for them to be contacted easily. It was recently discovered that a number of industrial operators still lack access to rubber sources, prompting the need for the Commerce Ministry to step in.

The government could make billions available to assist the people who are the backbone of Thailand, the farmers (of various products) if they scrapped the wasteful expenditure on unneccesary military hardware (submarines, aircraft carrier, modern fighter jets) and spent the money on interest free loans for the poorer farming populace, for equipment and seeds, new training for the change of farming methods/crops, properly managed water resources etc etc. Fighter jets could be replaced by state of the art radar and ground to air missile systems (in case any one wanted to invade Thailand's air space). Submarines and aircraft carriers are offensive weapons, not really needed as I cannot see Thailand going to war with any of it's neighbours. More small to medium sized patrol craft to ensure the sea borders of Thailand are secure, more general pupose and attack helecopters to support ground forces and inshore naval forces against possible smuugling or insurgency. Streamline the command structures, pensioning off all unneccesary senior officers. Who wants to invade Thailand? For what?

"...increase demand for rubber"

We guys know how this can be achieved, don't we?

May help, but only a little bit I'm afraid. I doubt they will suddenly find an industry which could use tenths of thousands kilograms of rubber sheets.

How about rubber "checks" ? Farmers can use them by the millions.

How about Thailand start a satellite delivery business ? huge rubber band few thousand Burmese factory slaves workers, pull and release or if that dont work bounce things into orbit.

Hey heres one..... spray the buses with a thick coating, then when they come off the road or tip over they might bounce back or have a softer landing.

Sell mini sheets as souvenirs to tourists who have never seen real rubber.

Or corner the market in cheap chewy rubber dog bones.
