Woman trampled to death by an elephant while her son injured



CHANTABURI: -- A woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant and her two-year old boy suffered a broken leg at a rubber plantation in Makham district of Chanthaburi Monday morning.

The fatal elephant attack was reported to officials of Ban Thung Pae forest protection unit and Makham district police by villagers of Tambon Chamun.

A combined police and forest ranger team was sent to the rubber plantation for an investigation. There, they found a two-year old with bruises and a broken left leg lying on the plantation floor. The boy was then rushed to Makham district hospital for medical treatment.

The officials also found the body of Mrs Pornnipa Ngamprasert nearby and a damaged motorcycle.

Khao Soi Dao national park officials said that the park would pay compensation to the relatives of the dead victim.

CHANTHABURI– A 33 year old Thai woman has been trampled to death and her two-year-old son seriously injured by a wild bull elephant early on Monday morning near a rubber plantation in Makham district, the Bangkok Post reported.

Police and rescuers from a charity foundation were rushed a dirt road beside a rubber plantation near Khao Kitchakut National Park. after being informed of the incident by officials at Ban Thungphen forestry station.

They found Pornnipa Ngamprasert, 33 lying dead on the dirt road, with a badly damaged motorcycle nearby, her son Patipan, 2, was seriously injured by the elephant and had already been sent to Phra Pokklao Hospital in Chanthaburi town.

Unfortunately your arguement is a dud. If it were not then you yourself would have to absent yourself from where ever you are as before you and all of us came there were wild animals about. We forced them out, now there is not enough room for them and us.

However, not to worry, there are now too many humans on the planet, let alone wild animals, and population implosion is on the way!

theres been a lot of controversy about elephants recently and the risk they pose to humans I suggest they should be be put in an area where they wont pose a threat to humans I don't know what this poor lady was doing in the plantation with her son I have no doubt it will be explained in due course.

My argument is not 'dud', I too am part of the problem. I am aware of that. When the implosion does come, I just hope it's a painless as possible for those affected. For those who remain, I hope they don't forget the lessons learnt should they be given the chance to rebuild.

Wild animals and people don`t mix. Humans do not have priority rights on territory although they think they do. Human populations are encroaching on the natural habitats all the time, so there will be clashes between the species.

I did read the whole story, did you bother reading my post? - absolutely no mention of either wild or domesticated. Rogue applies to either wild or domesticated, either way it should have been relocated well away from people.

To me most elephants look the same and if it a wild elephant as the story states, how many were in the herd? Was it a male or female elephant, young or old. Was there a baby elephant that the woman was between and its mother?

In the second link officials only believe it was the same elephant but I am sure that there are many wild elephants up in northern Thailand.

I can't believe in these nonsense arguments. The future of the child withing the family is in possible jeopardy and this is only what counts. Love and education.
