January 13, 201610 yr Dear experts - are there rules and restrictions, for the bearer of a "guardian" visa, on working as a volunteer in an NGO (that is, in a non-paid job for a non-profit organization)? Thanks for helping to clarify.
January 13, 201610 yr What are you calling guardian visa? What is it based upon? Children in school, parent of Thai? There is truly no guardian visa or extension of stay. A work permit is needed for volunteer work.
January 13, 201610 yr As said, there is no such thing as a Guardian Visa. You need a Work Permit to work. I think you have a child in school. Edited January 13, 201610 yr by Eclipse
January 13, 201610 yr Author Yes Eclipse, and Ubonjoe, the visa is for a foreigner, parent of a child in school here ("caretaker visa"?) - a valid one, I assure you. Thanks for the info. If I may ask, which agency must we go to for the work permit? Immigration?
January 13, 201610 yr What you apparently have is an extension of stay based upon being the parent of child attending school. You had to show 500k baht in a Thai bank to get the extension. If you had a visa you would have to leave the country every 90 days. You apply for a work permit at the Labor Ministry office for the province where you are living or working. They may not accept the application with the extension or visa you have now. They may insist you have a non-o visa based upon working as a volunteer.
