NoshowJones
Why change? What is wrong with the current anthem? Ask any Scot, except perhaps members of a certain organisation. Read the words of the fourth verse.
AyG
Land Of Hope And Glory does it for me. Great tune. (They also did a version in the TV series minstrel-style in black face and a cod negro accent. I suspect it's now considered too politically incorrect to be on Youtube. "Land ob hope and glory/mammy ob da free".) Edited January 15, 2016 by AyG
John1012
Why change? What is wrong with the current anthem? Ask any Scot, except perhaps members of a certain organisation. Read the words of the fourth verse. I think you mean 6th verse, 4th verse seems pretty innocuous, quite good idea. 1. God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen! Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us; God save the Queen! 2. O Lord our God arise, Scatter her enemies And make them fall; Confound their politics, Frustrate their knavish tricks, On Thee our hopes we fix, God save us all! 3. Thy choicest gifts in store On her be pleased to pour; Long may she reign; May she defend our laws, And ever give us cause To sing with heart and voice, God save the Queen! 4. Not in this land alone, But be God's mercies known, From shore to shore! Lord make the nations see, That men should brothers be, And form one family, The wide world over. 5. From every latent foe, From the assassins blow, God save the Queen! O'er her thine arm extend, For Britain's sake defend, Our mother, prince, and friend, God save the Queen! 6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade May by thy mighty aid Victory bring. May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush. God save the Queen! Yes, but I have also seen it quoted as the 4th verse. I am a Scot, but not a proud one. I won't go into the reason why again.
SoiBiker
The verse mentioning Scotland is not considered part of the official anthem, and is never sung - most of the time only the first verse is used anyway.
Cynical Sailor
I think the words to this song are both inspiring and appropriate. I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love: The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice. And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace. That's true, but there is no way I will ever stand for the British National Anthem.

NativeSon360
On second thought, I recant. England needs to return to some point in a 12th. Century (William Wallace era) time-frame, then restart the Empire building process, all over again Maybe they'll hold on to it (The Empire) longer, next time around; maybe????
