You can cross the border, turnaround and come back to Thailand.

Stay as long or little as you like

You can cross the border, turnaround and come back to Thailand.

I guess ubonjoe that he has to get a Lao visa and get stamped in Laos before he turns back ?

Of course you need to stamp into and out of a neighbouring country, else you will be deemed not to have left Thailand,it's really very simple.

Hi

I got similar situation and got a couple of questions. I have double-entry tourist visa and extended for 30 days. Now i have to get for another remaining 60 days stay and am thinking to go around Laos border. I want to know

1. when I crossed laos border, do I need to go through laos visa stamped?

2. can I go out and come back to thailand on the same day since I still have 1 entry left?

Thanks in advance.

The answer is yes to both.

As other posters have said you must first EXIT Thailand and get that exit stamp.

Then you need to enter the other country, getting an entrance STAMP from that other country.

At that point you can exit from the country you just entered, making sure THEY stamp you out as legally exiting..

Finally you can re-enter Thailand making sure the Thai immigration stamps you back in.

it is a process, but can be easily done.....if you have the proper visa.

Thank you both for your prompt answer.

Just one more thing. Do you think Chiang Khong (laos border point) is still good for such in and out visa run?

Appreciated.

Yes it is.

Since you have a valid visa for re-entry about any border crossing would be good.

A picture below showing an example of the exit and re entry stamps I obtained yesterday entering and departing Laos at Nam Heuang.

Alongside is my 30 day visa exemption stamp obtained upon re entering Thailand.
