Kvm Connexion For 2 Pc's

Anyone able to help. Looking for a supplier here {Bangkok} of a KVM switch? {cable set?}, which would allow me to use a single keyboard and mouse to run the desktop usually, but allow connexion of a laptop {no PS2 ports, only USB & VGA out} so that it could use the 'full size' facilities as well as the desk LCD. Both systems are XP.

No intention to run both simultaneously.

I know Belkin have a product called 'Flip' for just such a set-up but not sure if it's here yet.

Regards

IT City top level of Panthip have Belkin KVM switches, modems, routers etc. I think l have seen the one you want, something like 3000 baht??? I got a Belkin hub there the other day, expensive considering all the cheap versions you can get but it is very well made and works great.

I have one of these switches, I switch computer by pressing alt+F1.

Now only 1 problem I might see with your setup, is in the fact that while you can use the USB ports for a mouse, I'm not too sure about that for the keyboard!

The KVM switch only has ps2 ports to hook everything up, so it's only PS2 cables going to both my desktop PC's.

I do have however a USB mouse hooked up to the switch by use of a USB to PS2 adapter. Keyboard is with a regular PS2 port connected to the switch!

By far the best two port KVM switch is the Linksys ProConnect Integrated KVM which retails for under 2000 baht. It supports PS2 connections natively but you can purchase an optional adaptor to convert to USB if required. Its performance is excellent.

I had a Belkin KVM switch previously and it provided endless problems with random switching between the two computers by itself. I would stay away from Belkin products completely, in saying that, Belkin is not a premium brand by any means.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all.

Was in Paragon this evening and went up to the bright white empty IT floor. There they had little flyers for the Flip, but in the immortal words 'no have". Usually go to Fortune these days, but I'll getout the industrial loin girding kit and venture to Pantip "Sexy Movie" Plaza.

By the by Belkin have benefitted from the iPod halo effect, and seem, on-balance, to build decent kit. If anyone can point me to other suppliers here then I'll take a further look.

Regards

PS Did anyone look into the tee-shirt solution being suggested many moons ago, i.e., {in Thai} Porn Purveyors have small ones .... :o
