SETV in Hong Kong

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

So I went to Hong Kong for a tourist visa, about 3 weeks ago.Thought I will try a new place outside of the normal surrounding countries.

Biggest mistake.. They let you wait for hours, demanded loads of documents, unfriendly and not helpful at all.

I saw many foreigners walk in at their consulate and all of the foreigners were treated really badly. If they asked questions regarding their

visas, the consulate employees snapped at them and they were generally very rude.

I will highly recommend all of you to stay away from the Hong Kong consulate.

Did you get your visa? For one or for multiple entries?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

I applied for the SETV. I saw a notice on the board that they have a fee of 1500HKD for METV but came to the conclusion

that those are only available for Hong Kong residents.

Phnom Penh is a bit the same way also. Isn't it amazing how there is such a contrast between the attitude these places compared to somewhere like Savhanaket In Laos where they are so easy to deal with?

Right on mate

the new multiple entry is not easy to get. You need to apply it from you own country and prove of fund 200,000 THB in your local bank book.

Regarding the Hong Kong consulate, never been there before but I believe if you try in Vientiane should not be a problem. As they don't even look at your application. Especially when the Tour agent from Bangkok is on service they will clear the que as fast as they could.
