For a Non Immigrant “O” Visa, requirements may vary depending on the case. In the case of a Non-Immigrant ‘O” visa for retirement, you will need 800,000 baht tin a Thai bank, a copy of your Thai bank book, pension details or proof of a sustainable income, 2 passport-sized photos, and you must be over 55 years of age.

Moved to the Thai visas forum.

You must be reading some old out of date info or just plain wrong into. It is still 50 or over.

Yes. Misleading information.

Also income/pensions have to be verified by a sworn affidavit at your Embassy - best not to lie as it's a Federal offence.

Back up proof may be required at some Immi offices.

They got it from Thai Embassy dot com

It never ceases to amaze me the lack of attention to detail and the provision of wrong or out-of-date information on visas provided by legal co. based websites.

When you are over 50, have 800000 baht in the bank on an originally non-immy-'o' visa, you need a letter from the bank confirming the money has been in the bank for minimum of 2 months, copy of your bank book. You do not need proof of pension etc as well.

You do if you are using the combination method.

:-)

But then you would not have the 800,000 baht in the bank would you?

Thank you billd766, you took the words right out out my mouth......

A VISA is obtained outside Thailand, no money is required in a Thai bank, but medical & police report are required.

An Extension of stay is obtained inside Thailand, money may be required in a Thai bank, but no medical or police report.

Embassy website,

Not updated, incorrect information, and depends which country you are in.

(Thai embassy in China?, USA, UK ...... all different conditions for VISAs)

Since when is a medical and police report needed for an O Visa?

It is not, but it is for a Non Imm O-A Visa.

there is a lot of incorrect information on that site, but it does say 50 years of age for non 'o' for retirement, it also says 40,000 baht is required for non 'o' visa for marraige.

The consulate in Hull , Uk is stating that in order to get an O pensioner (I read this as retirement ) you have to be 65

For O married to a thai income of 65,000Bht a month

Maybe different for other countries or applying for extension of stay in Thailand

The 65 years old rule is only in the UK and that is for a multiple entry non-o..

The income to get a non-o based upon marriage is an error but Hull seems to enforce it. The embassy and other consulates do them with no financial proof.

Hull used to be good for visa's, but are now the worst or one of the worst. exp for marriage.
