webfact
Team Suvarnabhumi opens to counter international crimes, terrorismBANGKOK: -- The Thai Immigration Bureau will today officially open "Team Suvarnabhumi" at Suvarnabhumi international airport that will enable real time sharing of information with five countries about travelers identities including for suspect lists, and missing and stolen passports.Immigration Bureau commissioner Pol Maj Gen Nattorn Prohsunthorn named the five countries that will share real time information with Thai immigration as France, Canada, Australia, Austria and United States. He said that the benefit from real time sharing is that it will make the counter terrorism effort of engaged countries more efficiently, as well as immigration check of travellers, particularly when the ASEAN Economic Community now takes effect. He also said now all immigration checkpoints across the country have been placed on heightened alert, particularly at the southern border following the bomb attacks in Indonesia. He said the southern border is the place which connects Malaysia where Indonesian people can enter Thailand via the Malaysian border in addition to air access.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/147086 -- Thai PBS 2016-01-
Cynical Sailor
"He said the southern border is the place which connects Malaysia..." Really? I'm glad he cleared that up.

Barnet
I wonder if they know what sharing actually means. Will it mean that the hub of the best things in the world having to admit they have terrorism in the country or force a black out and later use this as the reason they did not relay the information. As for security, its like the security at a gated community. If its a farrang / workmen in a vehicle they get let in, and saluted.
Cynical Sailor
You know they haven't seen the movie Team America when any government or one of their agencies starts calling themselves "Team <insert name here>". A former Australian prime minister liked to use the term "Team Australia" until one of his astute advisors told him it probably wasn't a good idea. Poor bugger never lived it down... Brer Fox
Be warned passengers travelling to Australia out of Suvarnabhumi carrying alcohol. I purchased only minutes before departure in the duty free area of Suvarnabhumi itself a bottle of whiskey. It was in the usual sealed plastic bag but was confiscated at the boarding gate after a search of all passengers bags by Team Suvarnabhumi at the instruction of the Australian government. This was a second search after the usual bag screening and body search prior to entry into the departure zone. It was claimed by Team Suvarnabhumi was that it was greater than an allowable 100ml in volume. It did not seem to matter that Thai Airways itself could carry and sell in-flight duty free liquid products in excess of the 100ml limit.

Maestro
What a letdown! duckmandon
The real time sharing will only work one way. These listed countries have up to date systems that allow immediate checking. I applied for Australian Federal Police check in December. I had the approval within a day. I applied one week later at Thai Police Headquarters & I am still waiting. Great service Thailand. Yet they left there good buddy China out of the mix. Well guess they have to keep open the flow of all the knockoff's.
