It makes me wonder at what price point would the pjs/everest outsell the fortuner. Would the fortuner need to exceed 2M baht - 400K to 500K more than their competitors? How much would Thai consumers take before they switch brands? It still outsells the others despite being deficient in a number of areas. The mindset is changing....but slowly.

Price is not the only driver though - unless it's just so low it can't be overlooked...

Generally speaking, marketing and looks sell more cars than cheaper prices - just look at the Mazda2 Hi-rider CX-3 as a classic example ;)

If looks were important the PJS and the Fortuner would be in single sales figures

Yes in Thailand the Teana is superior to the Camry.

When we did the comparison test for TMAP-MS between Camry, Teana and Honda. The Teana was the clear winner in every single aspect.

Seats are more comfortable, the ride is more comfortable, the safety systems are better equipped, etc.

When we had to make the Product information guide for the Toyota sales people we had to dig as deep as we could to find areas where the Camry is better than the Teana.

For example top Teana has 9 speakers while the Camry has 10 speakers.

However we are comparing a Camry of 1,9 million baht to a Teana of 1,6 million baht.

Teana clear winner. No doubt about it.

1. price not talking any about superior o not.

2. You no give any argumentation fact

Seats more comfortable for what? for relax or for fast drive?

ANd now comparison with fact:

a) front seats Camry have cool ventilated seats Teana NOT( this is BIG + for comfort seats in HOT climat Thailand) +1 Camry

cool.png Camry handaling better( not to much but its cat easy filling), it comfort to drive( ride) and + safety drive + 1 Camry

c) Camry have hybrid + 1 Camry

SO what car you compare?

1.9 m bath it HYBRID:

with ventiliation seats,

with more option electric seats

with control some electric control in rear seats ,

with 3 zone climatconrol

all this is NOT have in Teana(Thailand market)

Hybrid its litle faster teana too

just "Teana little better soundproofing" but its same not reason if you take car as comfort slow drive and compare with HYBRID top spec . hybride if slove drive more silence.

O in fact need compare

A) Teana 2.5 XV NAVy( 1629000bath) with Camry 2.5 G( 1569000 bath)

Teana more more silence.

Teana have sunroof

Camry only little better handling and may be faster

so teana little prefer in this is comparison

But Teana up price and if you talking about price how much lost in Thai market after 3 year use?

cool.png teana 2.0 XL navy(1389000) VS camry Extremo (1484000 bath)

Camry faster

Camry better handling

spec its near

But camry up price ( how much its be after sale?)

total may be prefer Camry\

C) Camry Hybrid top spec (1899000 bath ) VS Nissan ( not have any in Thai martket)

ANd last

if you slow and soft drive some times need be fast , reasonable price( how its can be possible in Thailand)

yes its Teana 2.5 XV navy

If you nees best handelling and control car

be fast its.... Honda Accord Hybrid

if you want have more comfort for spec and fast drive its Camry hybrid top spec

ANd now tell me with fact as me.

what is more superior Teana and comfort (Thai market)

The Camrys I have driven all have a gutless engine, awful brakes and handled like a sofa on casters. I've never driven a Teana but I can't imagine them to be as bad as a Camry.

I say in some topic Camry be top horrible car what i get before i bouth Fortuner. And it almast about 2.4 camry. 3.5 its not be best of my car but not so bad. Ofcouse mark X for example much better. And model camry can be different .

So that why i want ask. What year model camry and what engine about you talking? If about 2.4 or 2.5 in both of model yaer its tru.

If about last hybrid.

ITs not really. All hybrid from start to 40-80 km/h its quick.

But after its be much slow.

Camry hybrid its too. But 80-120 its near Teana 2.5 . From 0-100 camry faster.

camry 2015 soundproofing it much better then my camry 40.

But in Teana better.

PS if i biy some same class in Thailand prefer Passat or passat CC.

O try import 3.5 mark X. And if choice only Camry/ teana/ accord

In Thailand its be accord.

Back in the J32 generation, the Teana was simply superior to the Accord and Camry in every objective measure. Subjective styling was up to you though ;)

But the 2014 Accord and 2015 Camry closed some very big gaps, and now the differences between all 3 of them are so small, that it really comes down to subjective preferences.

About NEs fortuner and PJS

Fortuner 2.8 its faster PJS

better handeling

In my opinion minus Fortuner it not space for tall guy in rear seats( In Thai market its not actual)

If New PJS be same offroad as before

its better Fortuner

some guys compare ( in real offroad) old PJS with Prado 120

So ofcouse if win in offroad can lost in road.

Hope NEW PJS be same old.

While the Fortuner 2.8L has a torque advantage over the PJS, there's not much difference in acceleration - the Mitsu's 8AT and better top-end power makes up for a lot of the deficit.

No-one is going to say the Pajero Sport is a great handling machine though :) It has definitely been tuned with a big bias towards comfort.

Off road, the PJS has excellent wheel articulation/travel and the Super Select II 4WD system is a much better implementation then Toyota's Sigma4 system - which can't even keep traction control working when low range and the rear diff lock is engaged.

i just say what i try.

handeling Fortuner better on road.

acselleration faster.

Pajero Sport on Offroad previose generation very good.

so if PJS be even same as previose its more for offroad.

Fortuner in my opinion try do same crossover, but Why?

may be becouse of specific Asia market. i do not see in Thailand buy Fortuner as offroad car. ANd this is way cheap get model for market needs, rave 4, highlander , Harrier , start produce ifor Thailand market i guess it more hight cost.

What i know now only in Russia or Kazahstan this is car try use as offroad.

For me NEW Fortuner now - misunderstanding car.

Torque is usually misunderstood. The true picture is the torque curve. The longer and flatter the high curve tells the tale. Some curves show a high spike and that makes a good sounding number but means nothing for performance. A lower number with a flatter curve will perform better.

A flatter curve gives a more linear response, and sometimes feels nicer to drive, but more is still more too wink.png

Headline numbers suggest the Mitsubishi 2.4L is better than the Toyota 2.8L, but, yep, the torque curve tells the truth biggrin.png
