Does anyone know what the situation would be for renewing the 12 month extension for having a Thai wife if the applicant was hospitalised or unable to attend in person?

Is there any provision to allow a third party or even your Thai wife to make the application for an extension if you were physically unable to attend the interview?

Can a Thai queue for you to get you the appointment, then you turn up at 8 am rather than 4 am? (Yes Chiang Mai forces us to do this rubbish)

Just a thought, I was considering hospitalizing myself at somewhere comfortable like the CM RAM to avoid the hoop jumping required by CM Immigration. Is it possible? or do you really have to turn up in person with your wife?

The added benefit would be lying in a nice air con hospital getting some reasonable food and not getting shot dead over complex issues like finding a parking place.

It would not be allowed.

I think it is possible to hire somebody to wait in line to get the number for you. Check with an agency about it.

Cheers,

I checked with a few online agents here in Chiang Mai and it appears they are forbidden to make any application on a second party's behalf, i.e. they no longer can process anything for you. However, it is certainly worth checking out to see if a Thai can get in the queue for me. I have to travel a long way to get to the Airport office, probably need to stay in the City or leave home at 2AM just to get in the bloody queue, and to be honest, Airport Plaza is probably closed so no where handy to park the car. Unless anyone knows if the garage opposite is open 24 hours?? Advice would be welcome.

The second part of my question ( Ubonjoe if you can help) goes like this -

I have passport that expires 1st of March this year, I already have a new passport issued in October. However, the original passport has been "Clipped" by the Brits issuing the new one.

Should I get my extension to stay transferred BEFORE I got to do the next 12 month renewal ( I have the letter from the embassy asking them to do this) or can it all be done at the same time as I apply for my next 12 month extension.

Thanks for your help.

I think you should have posted your thread here

i have to agree i believe there may be some flexibility in the system for such situations but i fear not for you

certainly not now you have exposed yourself as a potential cheat

Jesus, I am only joking! You people take everything too seriously. I am looking for the LEAST painful method of getting a new extension for a year, I have been here since '97, and it has never been such a pain in the ass as it is now - and no doubt you do not live in Chiang Mai or you would understand what I am on about. We are treat like bloody cattle up here, so take a deep breath and thank your lucky stars you are not the performing monkey that we have to assume every year! Let me know which hospital performed your Humour Bypass Operation, I need to make sure to avoid it. Don't know how you get the idea that I am a "Potential Cheat" - I would be a 100% Cheat given the opportunity to just pay someone to take away the hassle! I also like the fact that you agree that you "Believe" there may be some flexibility - However, Believing something and the reality are not really the same thing are they?

Post #3 by the OP Pray explain why? it isn't a joke, it is a simple question. You obviously never visit Chiang Mai immigration either.

None were funny.

I think #1 was serious, #3 was serious, #7 was an attempt to backpedal after another poster called him out as a potential cheat.

You should be able to hire a Uni student to queue for you.

I understand your frustrations - I have to deal with the 2nd worst Immi office - Phuket.

And I can't climb their two flights of stairs.

Immigration should note your original visa and present extension of stay in your passport when you extend. There's no need for another 2:00 AM trip. And LIGHTEN UP if you want other posters to be civil to you.

There were some very helpful members that gave you good advice but no reply back from yourself to let them no know how you are.

Some of us do care, but then again i'm thinking "Jesus, I am only joking! You people take everything too seriously"

Apologies members and guests, rant over offtopic.gif

Thanks fpr that, so it seems possible to get someone to get in line for you! I knew an 85 year old American on an oxygen supply that was forced to drag himself down to CM immigration, could barely walk and that was when they had

Queue Online", sadly he has died already, so didn't have to suffer the humiliation of queueing like a 3rd rate dog at 4 am just because they cannot get their act together. Very sad really. Imagine the backlash if Muslims in the UK had to miss prayers at 4 am to queue for their visas stamps? - They would be howling like cats to the EU about their Human Rights!!!

My apologies to members that have posted helpful info - I try to reply when I see a response, however, I completely lost contact with many of my previous threads. I use Edge 10 and am subscribed to replies, however it seems that 9 out of ten times there is no e mail message when someone replies. Appreciate the response, I will re look at my settings, but I never even got a notification regarding responses to that old thread.
