Giant Puppet Project Takes Over Siem Reap

The annual Giant Puppet Project is celebrating its 10th anniversary a little bit early this year. Event workshops begin this Saturday, with more than 600 local youth erecting eight life-sized wire and paper puppets, reminiscent of Chinese dragon puppets.

Two weeks later on Saturday, February 6th, the children will parade their puppets through the streets of Siem Reap. “All puppets are created to include unique educational, cultural or ecological themes such as road safety, endangered species, hygiene, local cultural appreciation and environmental awareness,” project director and architect, Stuart Cochlin said.
