BANGKOK: -- Ramathibodi hospital praised the late TV star Tridsadee “Por” Sahawong for donating his body for medical study and thanked his family for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with medical staff in the tireless attempt to save his life throughout the last 70 days at the hospital.

In a statement which was posted in the hospital’s website, Ramathibodi hospital expressed its condolence to the family of Por Tridsadee for the popular star’s death on January 18 as a result of fatal dengue fever and complications.

The hospital thanked Por and his family for their cooperation with the hospital throughout the 70-day period under treatment. It said it was impressed with the giver’s spirit of the late star and his family.

Por is like our medical teacher for the donation of his body to the hospital for study, said the hospital, adding “we are not surprised why Por is widely loved.”

Netizens, meanwhile, launched attacks against what they alleged as unbecoming conduct of the media in their coverage of the transfer of Por’s body from Ramathibodi hospital to his hometown in Buri Ram on Tuesday.

Media photographers were seen jostling one another to take pictures of Por’s body as he was carried out of the hospital and of his family and relatives apparently without any respect for the late actor and his grieving family.

Associate Professor Warit Khuruchit of NIDA pointed out the fierce competition in media business does not justify the media to treat a dead man and his family in such a manner. “The best pictures you shot are only good for you but not for the other people,” he said.
