Re-entry permit at Swampy

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is the right forum to post so Moderator please move it if it isn't.

I went to Swampy today and found out that the automated re-entry permit system is no longer there. Previously we were able to get a re-entry permit, photo, and form automatically filled out and printed for 1,200 Baht. No hassles, and quick.

It seems as though things have changed and instead of having the automated service, you need to manually fill out the form and attach your own photo. If you don't have a photo on you, you need to exit the immigration area and go to the Tourist Police station and have your photos taken there for 200 Baht, before going back up and going through the metal detector and all that again before making your way back again to submit your form. Cost of form submission is 1,000 Baht.

Thought to mention it in case others are relying on this service to be operating the same way it did last year (at least around six months ago anyway). So in short, make sure you bring your own photo with you if not the filled in form with photo.

I used to recommend doing the re-entry at the airport but not anymore..

I had the same experience around new years. When my child and I were going to the police station to get my pic taken, the re-entry permit guy kept my passport and boarding pass/tickets to fill in the form for us.

When we get back he takes my photo and ushers us to the ladies desk who will approve and stamp my passport. He lost our boarding pass/tickets. They played a blame game with me for a while and were very angry with me, until their supervisor saw what was happening and said she believed me. She took us to her office where she said she could print off more boarding passes for us and stamp us out.

Once in her office, her mood changed right away she accused me of kidnapping my dual citizen child and wanted to speak with his mother, who wasnt readily available. My son and I travel to USA twice a year for the eight years of his life. We ended up having to run to our gate and barely made our flight.

Long story short....will be doing my re-entries at immigration ahead of time from now on.

You are not the first one to report that they had go back to get the photo done. I have started suggesting people have a photo in case they cannot do the photo.

No offence but is it too hard to download form have it pre filled in with photo attached. Most of us living here have photos on hand. Top up when getting low. Anyway if prepared the airport option is a great service and better than making separate trip for reentry permit.

Planning a trip to Europe in a month or so so went to Phuket Immis yesterday to get reentry permit. Good place to do it but very bad timing. Friday afternoon and a real zoo of people. Quick re the Form #8 submittal but then st around almost one hour waiting to get stamped. Still better than airport given uncertainties vs. sure thing here.

You could of went to the Patong office and avoided the crowd.

So in short, make sure you bring your own photo with you if not the filled in form with photo.

Thats the point.

I never travel without some photos in the wallet.

It could just have been a defective camera/printer device.
