BANGKOK: Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Saturday apologized to Bangkok people admitting that the party cannot control Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra to perform in accordance with the party’s policy.

He reaffirmed the party’s recent announcement to sever its relations with the governor because of the difference in the administration of the city between the party and the governor.

The Democrat party leader said that the party had to be held accountable for its failure to rein in the city administration and to follow up its performance. He said that every time he takes to the street to ask for the votes of Bangkokians, he would tell them that the party would use party’s mechanism to keep check of the performance of the city administration to ensure transparency.

“But, this time, we can’t do it and have to tell the truth to the people so that they won’t be confused,” said Abhisit, adding that he would not interfere with the judgements of party members or the city administrators regarding this matter.

He admitted that the party has been under a lot of pressure for not being able to respond to those who have complained against the city administration.

As far as the governor and his administration are concerned, Abhisit said that the party will have nothing to do with them but they should do their best for their own sake.

It's just beginning to dawn on him what it was that he signed on for when he decided to sup with the devil . Now they have shoved him aside, something that was always going to happen, he feels regret.

I do understand that those in the 'ignore' section of this country have been the victims of the 'Ignoant As <deleted>' NE who have said, among other things 'The Democrats (lol) have been responsible for not allowing Other Countries to grow rice', during the last Yingluck aka Taksin drop in demand for their overpriced rice policy. However. In the name of God, despite Abbhisit's ability to talk the talk, he is utterly unable to comprehend his potential power bases's needs and mindset. He should GO. NOW.

So what you are really complaining about is , he would not share fairly. tongue.png

You know what I am talking about. whistling.gif

It would be stupid for Abhisit to expect the governor to resign before his term is up. There is a lot more baht to be raked in before the end of term..Those new Mercedes for his family won't pay for them self's.

Two counts of "loss of face" both the governor and Abhisit.....

And we all know what happen when they loose face.....

Popcorn anyone?

What is a' loose face' , please tell me, someone who is old with wrinkles?

Sukhumpand was selected by The Democrats in the last election due to the influence of Suthep .A very wealthy man due to his heritage he doesn't 'owe' anyone, anything.

The Democrats are right to dismiss him, let him join Suthep, and Newin and whoever else in a new party, even Sudarat perhaps, though Thaksin may persuade her to head Pheua Thai next year. The new party like Poomjai Thai, with no real base, will go nowhere.

In the meantime Apisit should resign, and Dr Surin with his experience and personal touch, should take over and rejuvenate the party in both ideals and connection to the public.

Interesting.I was wondering whether politics apart there are any practical differences between the party and Sukhumbhand relating to the administration of Bangkok.I understand Sukhumbhand is relatively low energy but are there any substantial disagreements?

If he won't toe the party line, can't they threaten to stop his monthly cheque? Oh, sorry, wrong party.

Yes, how could you possibly confuse it with the other one, which never apologises for lacklustre senior members ! rolleyes.gif

Let's hope that Abhisit's announcement starts a new trend.

I thought all parties had been disbanded and banned? So .... erm ... who is Abhisit speaking on behalf of???

I don't think they've been disbanded it's just political rallies that are banned.
