Ministry to Crack Down on Recruitment Agencies

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training said in March, it will begin cracking down on private recruitment agencies that do not comply with the Labor Law, according to a letter released by the Ministry last Wednesday. Signed by Labor Minister Ith Samheng, the letter stated that while some recruitment agencies have shown progress in their adherence from year to year, there are still agencies that have not yet adopted the Labor Law’s regulations.

There are private recruitment agencies, for instance, that do not have actual offices, formal employees, office equipment, contact numbers and modes of transportation, all of which violate the law. According to the letter, agencies must also have services that ensure the wellbeing of their workers.
