PATTAYA:-- A fire quickly engulfed a condominium building and office block in Pattaya on Monday morning.

The fire, which is believed to have started in a bedroom at The Mooks Residence and office block located on Pattaya third road, sent flames and smoke billowing up the side of the building.

Witnesses described seeing terrified residents flee in panic.

Fire and rescue teams were quickly on the scene and used large extendable ladders from their fire trucks to rescue those trapped higher up the building.

It is unclear at this stage if there are any casualties or if anyone remains trapped in the building.

Thaivisa will bring you more on this breaking news story as it develops.

Probably fortunate that the fire station is close by.

Could this be a cladding issue, similar to the Dubai New Year fire?

Certainly not anywhere near as spectacular but seems possible as, per the report, the fire only had an external impact on the condo.

Bit scary for the residents, no doubt. Nope no-one badly affected by this incident.

oh dear ! looks nasty ....... the monk should watch those candles .........blink.png

Sincere sympathies for those who have been affected!

Cheers to the fire brigade !!!

Wot??? Strange Comment.

I saw a fire in South Pattaya once, flames 15 feet above the top of the building, and the fire engines couldn,t pump the water higher than about 15 feet from the ground ! Hopefully their equipment has been upgraded :)

Probably fortunate that the fire station is close by.

They needed more than 30 minutes to come to the Mooks. 20 more minutes until the appropriate equipment arrived.

Looking at that black smoke, I am thinking it is possibly an electrical fire and it is all the plastic burning off the cables which run behind the cladding...

Thanks for that.

Now I know what this helter skelter was caused by when I wanted to leave Big C Extra by car at about noon.

Jam packed detours.

I hope the condo insurance pays out without any hassle.

Sorry to hear about the fire. Horrible feeling when you are inside and trying to get away from the flames and the heat. Hope everybody is ok this time.

Rather a poor response since the fire engines are located on 3rd Rd (behind the City Hospital) and their only delay should have been the Klang junction.

From the article ... the fire presumably started in the monks bedroom ...
