Help... My six months is up!

Featured Replies

Hey, I need some info from ya'll. I came to Thailand last July 2015. I figured I'd stay for a couple months and move on to see the rest of se Asia. I did just that and went to Cambodia for the month of September. But I came back for a girl I'd met in my first two months. I went to bkk immigration n got 30 days added so I'd be good til the end of November. I then hit poipet with no problems n once again hit bkk immigration. This got me until now. Yesterday I hit poipet and was flagged. No reentry they said. She said I have overstayed in Thailand... Over six months. I need to go to Thai embassy in another country. She said she'd give me another 30 days if I went internet cafe n printed out plane ticket outta Thai in that span. So I'm back in bkk curious about how this all turns out. How long does one have to leave Thailand for the six months to start over? I was in Cambodia for a month, figured that was enough. Anyway I'm flying to Phnom Penh in 29 days. Answers to if I'll get back in here or should start making other plans...

It does not seem you overstayed. An overstay is being in the country beyond your permit to stay date and results in a fine of 500 baht a day.

It seems you may of reached the maximum number of visa exempt entries you could do.

The best thing to do would be to go to a nearby embassy or consulate and get a single entry tourist visa that would allow a 60 day entry that you can extend for 30 day at immigration.

From Bangkok the embassy in Vientiane would be a good choice to get it.

Thanks for answering! that's what I thought she meant. So you think this would work going to embassy? She, the woman at the border, insinuated it would. But then begs the question after that three months will I be able to hit visa run again ? Or will the previous times come up? Or By going to embassy will I be starting anew? Thx again.

As you're going to Phnom Penh already I would suggest that you get another single entry tourist visa but from Phnom Penh this time. It's much better to use an agent when doing this, some agents might still offer a 24 hour service if you pay an extra fee.

They lied to you about there being a 6 month limit, there's no other way to phrase it - it was an outright lie.

The last time I used the 24 hours service was nearly 2 years ago so I don't know if it's still available. The agent I used is named Mr Keo and his little shop was right next door to the large 'Paddy Rice' bar on the corner of one of the riverside roads, again that was 2 years ago but this guy has been around for many years and has proved reliable for lots of people in the past.

Check out this old thread that I started when doing the same thing back in 2014, read it all as I started off asking questions and all the answers are in there : http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/713652-good-agent-in-phnom-penh-for-thailand-tourist-visa/

Google this 'mr keo thai visa phnom penh'

No problem to get a tourist visa and re-enter the country.

The tourist visa would not reset the number of visa exempt entries you have gotten. The crossing at Poi Pet and the 3 other southern border crossings to Cambodia limits them to 90 days in a calendar year. You could go to a different crossing than those and probably get one.

You could go back and get another tourist visa without a problem.

One more question. Some dude at border yesterday said he had a friend who got a visa company to arrange a six month double entry visa from Thai embassy in pp. Anyone hear of this? Thought you needed to be in home country. I'm american if that's makes a difference. Doubt it. Thoughts?

You will not get a 2 entry tourist visa anywhere now. Only the new multiple entry tourist visa (METV) is available now and to get it you would have to apply for it in the states or possibley in Australia.

You could of gotten a 2 entry tourist visa in Laos prior to November 13th when the METV became available.
