Looking for affordable one month stay in Chiang Mai

50 Baht gets you a cardboard box outside of Tops supermarket. 300 Baht gets you a gas burner. Plenty left for beer... but more seriously there are plenty of apartments with a burner and a microwave available in that budget range but none with a stove. Just Google and find where the broke digital nomad lives in Chiang Mai.

Most normal rentals would be for a one year contract, or 6 months if really lucky.

So AirBnB.com is by far your best bet.

You left it late though, and there are LOTS of visitors to Chiang Mai right now. So you may have to do something like 1 week somewhere, and then the remaining 3 weeks some place else. Might actually be a good thing to move around a bit.

Some AirBnB hosts give a discount for monthly stays; rates should be compared vs hotel accommodation though, it's a lot higher than just renting a similar place for a year.

Emporium Residence in Santhitham Road.

Minimum long stay 1 month for 6,000bht. Outside balcony with kitchen sink.

Buy your own Microwave or hob for less than 2,000bht. depending on needs.

Car park under building.

I've come across some monthly apartments but they are all within the city limits if you are willing to broaden your search.

In the Nimmanhaemin area, Suan Suandok off Soi 17 has units starting at 4,000 baht.

In the neighborhood behind the YWCA near Huay Kaew Road, you will fin several apartments. Examples: P Place Apts (http://www.booking.com/hotel/th/chiang-mai-p-place.html) starting around 7,000 baht mo.,and around the corner, the Sunshine Guest House (http://www.booking.com/hotel/th/sunshine-house.html), with monthly units starting around 6500 baht. Both are about a 15 minute walk from the Kad Suan Kaew shopping center.

Walking around this neighborhood on the way to the Maya shopping center, I saw a number of new units, one at 3500 baht monthly.
