Two Myanmar migrant workers arrested with explosives in possession

RANONG: -- A sea patrol unit today arrested two Myanmar migrant workers aboard a fishing boat off Ranong coast after they were found to have power gel explosives and igniting fuses in possession.

Identified only as Ao and Sumya, they were later today handed over to the special action force of the 25th infantry regiment based in Ranong province for questioning.

Both confessed to be paid 3,000 baht to take the explosives from a rented house of a Myanmar trader in Ranong town to deliver to a person near Koh Sin Hai island. From where the explosive will be further delivered to a bigger vessel which is anchoring in the territorial waters.

Security authorities later this morning searched the rented house where they found a bunch of fuses used for the detonation of the explosives.

But the renter of the house has escaped.

Security authorities said questioning of the two migrant workers revealed that the explosives had nothing to do with terrorism as the power gel explosive is widely used by fishermen to catch fishes in the Andaman Sea.

Authorities had earlier told fishermen to stop using explosives in catching fishes as it is illegal and could put the country at risk of facing ban of its marine products from European Union.

Using explosives for fishing is prohibited around the world. If Thai Fishermen are using it, authorities to arrest who demanded explosives. I hope not another scapegoats got arrested. sad.pngsad.png

Many individuals in the fishing industry use explosives......hense the utter degradation of reefs everywhere........

Come Thai's don't do that

Got the guys who transported it, the guy that gave it to them, but not the guy buying right? Don't want to find out who it i guess?

Those pesky Burmese duo's are at it again.

the fuse is probably a detonator cap which is attached to explosive used. Prima cord

is cheap, water proof and failry safe even for a shade tree mechanic. ???

I cant imagine using this method in open waters as so much would be lost before retrieved

by the hands. works good in pools where fish seem to gather in rivers, creeks,

drying up ponds, etc. "red neck fishing method when extended family are expected"
