Actually, it's easier than that on the Retina screens...

Open System Preferences, click on Displays, click an option:

Obviously, you want "Larger Text" not "More Space" like me :)

Keyboard hot keys are Command Shift + at the same time to increase font size. If you make it uncomfortably large use Command - to reduce the size.
