I will be applying for the new METV visa for the first time after they changed it and I noticed that its required to show proof of residence of the country where I'm applying (ie my home country).

The thing is I am not a resident in my home country.

Will I be able to get the visa just with passport or I will have to show some utility bill or other kind of proof?

In which country are you? A utility bill should be okay.

I think they want proof that you are legally entitled to residence in the country you're applying in. Your passport does that if it's your home country.

Example: if you are European but not German and live in Germany you would have to show your Anmeldebestatigung.
