January 30, 201610 yr Hello If the bank balance drops below 400,000 at anytime during the 3 months prior to extension application will Thai immigration reject the visa extension?
January 30, 201610 yr Yes they can and probably will. But it's only 2 months for an extension based on marriage.
January 30, 201610 yr Author Even if it is back up to 400,000 by the time i apply. For example there is a space of 1 week during the 2 months when it has dropped below the 400,000 figure. Kris
January 30, 201610 yr Yes. They will almost certainly reject the application. The balance has to be a minimum for the full two months. I've read of them rejecting applications for 1 day. If you need more time you can apply for a 60 day extension and then apply for the 1 year extension.
January 30, 201610 yr Author Ok, so say they reject it, i can apply for a 60 day extension based on marriage/family right? and then use that 60 days as the new 2 months for the 400k to sit in the bank?
January 30, 201610 yr Yes you can. If they reject it they may not offer the 60 days so you'll need to ask. The deposit needs to be in a minimum of 400k for two months prior to the application date and you can use any qualifying time prior to the 60 day extension. If you have children you could ask them to process the application as a parent. Then the money only needs to be in the account on the day of the application. Not all offices will do it if you're married but it is possible. Edited January 30, 201610 yr by elviajero
January 30, 201610 yr They will reject it if the balance falls below 400,000 during the previous 2 months. That is the point of the rule. As said, a 60 day extension will get you out of trouble.
January 31, 201610 yr Keep in mind you only get ONE 60 day extension for marriage per ENTRY. You can apply for unlimited 1-YEAR marriage extensions consecutively. So if you decide to do 60 day extension now....and then you mess up again anytime so that ypu do not qualify for 1 year extension, you must leave the country and obtain a new visa and reset the process....or apply for an extension under a different category (e.g. retirement)
