Thai PM meets Chinese army chief

Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont and Thai Armed Forces Supreme Commander Boonsang Niempradit on Thursday in Bangkok met separately with Liang Guanglie, visiting chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, who stopped by Bangkok on the way of his good will trips to Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Liang made the stop-by visit at the invitation of Boonsang after completing an official visit to neighboring Laos on Wednesday.

Liang said Thailand and China are close neighbors, and the past 31 years since the establishment of Sino-Thai diplomatic relations has seen frequent exchanges and fruitful cooperation between the two countries' military forces on different levels and areas. The Chinese government is satisfied with the development of the bilateral relations over the long time.

Surayud said Thai government will stick firmly to the policy of promoting strategic cooperation with China, and continue to implement the "One China" policy.
