alansiporin
What is the construction across from Villa Mart? Part of the tunnel or the new hospital? Or something else? Just wondering.

Unless there is also a new tunnel and hospital near other Villa markets, I think it was very clear which one the OP meant. There is a tunnel being built outside villa market boat lagoon and it's also called villa market not mart. Not really very clear to be honest. Especially to a non-chalongian. Valentine
It is related to the underpass construction to install new drainage prior to the big event. Nearly 2 months so far & not looking like it will be completed very soon & probably have to do the other side as well. No sign of alternative roads being built which was listed as part of the works. Only existing narrow sois. Widening the approaches to the circle would help while the underpass is being built but cannot see that happening. madmitch
Went past at 2:00 this afternoon. A grand total of four people working! There weren't a lot more at 5pm yesterday evening. There doesn't seem to be any urgency at all. And what are the odds that when the drainage work is eventually complete, the road remains untarmacked for months afterwards. jobob
The new drains will be installed for at least two kilometres on each side of the road, he added. “Workers will block off sections of 120 metres at a time to install drains. Each section is expected to take 15 to 20 days to complete,” Mr Chalermpol said. Work on the much debated Chalong Underpass is likely to start in September 2015, and if not complete by September 14, 2017, Civil Engineering Co.Ltd, the construction company who won the tender to construct the underpass, will be fined around B1.3 million. So will be ready at 2018
