Clinton and Sanders 'tie' in Iowa for Democratic nomination

It makes little to no difference if Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders wins the democratic nomination, the Democrats will lose this election in an historic landslide. No one in their right mind would ever elect a socialist for president, and Hillary would be like re-electing Obama.

yeah just like karl rove and his secret romney victory....

Let me guess, 4 years ago you were totally sure Romney and Ryan were gonna win in a landslide. Yes, the same R&R team that claimed they would shovel out billions more to the military than the military asked for. How would they have paid for it? Republicans never say how they would pay for things, but they're sure good at amassing loans and putting Americans deeper in debt.

btw, if Obama could run for a 3rd term (and if he wanted to), he would win again. I'd like to see Michelle Obama as the Democratic party's VP candidate. Have you seen Michelle speak? She's awesome.

I'm sick of "awesome" speakers in politics. I want someone that will leave the country better than when they found it, not someone that can speak well. Even I have to admit that Obama was an "awesome" speaker, but he's left the country worse than when he was elected. A great leader brings people together, not divides them.

It depends how you define the adjective 'awesome'. In the context I used it, above, I meant not only is she dynamic, but her messages are good. If you don't want dividers, then you don't want any of the Republican candidates. Most of what they do is drive wedges between social groups and nationalities.

When Obama came to office, after a two term Republican prez, he inherited;

>>> two wars,

>>> Wall Street teetering on the edge of a depression,

>>> Fanny May, AIS almost bankrupt and the Big 3 automakers needing federal infusions to stay afloat,

>>> massive debt,

>>> no health coverage for vast majority of Americans.

As Obama sails off in the sunset, he's leaving:

>>> no wars,

>>> Wall Street going along as usual,

>>> No giant corps on the verge of bankruptcy,

>>> health coverage for most Americans.

There's still more he could have done, but the Rep majority in Congress successfully stymied many of his initiatives. One result is: the US has the highest health care costs and most expensive legal drugs in the world. It's no mystery why many Americans go to Canada and Mexico for health services and pharma drugs. Heck, they even go to Thailand to get teeth fixed and other surgeries.

The trouble with partisans is, they always overstate the case, even when their underlying point may have some validity and thereby damage their credibility. Their message only then resonates with people who agree with them already. rolleyes.gif

I agree 100% that it makes no difference if it's Hillary or Bernie. This is probably a first for us, CMN.

I do disagree on the ultimate outcome however. I do because I can do elementary math.

81% of the electorate is women and minorities. How much of that 81% do you think any of the wingnut candidates are going to capture? Given the big lead the blue states are guaranteed to give any Dem candidate, the Democrats need only a few states to put them over the top.

Do you seriously think any of these far right Republican candidates are going to somehow get women and minorities to vote for them? Because the candidates have had to go so far out into wingnuttia to own the Republican base, they've become unelectable.

You're right CMD! No one in their RIGHT mind would ever vote to elect the Dem candidates. The insurmountable Republican problem is, no one other than those RIGHT MINDED are going to vote Republican.

Take the Republican positions on banning abortion, ending Obamacare, building a wall. You're delusional if you think those issues are going to fly with with that 81%.

HRC (or Bernie, doesn't matter) in a landslide. Do the math. It's over.

The post above, by Pinot, is right on target. Fans of Republican candidates have been so immersed in this early stage, with Republicans preaching to their fans, that they seem to forget that there's a large populace out there who have no love for the Republicans and their bullhorn policies. Much of what the Reps are doing is echoing their icons from the past. Example: Goldwater wanted to nuke N.Vietnam, now Cruz says he wants to nuke the M.East. Nixon and Agnew talked about the great 'Silent Majority' - as if all the voters who don't vote and don't speak up are going to vote for a hard-right nutter. Trump has also mentioned that phrase multiple times recently. It's like the mid-teen kid having an argument with his parents: "I know I'm right because everyone agrees with me." Parents ask, "who is everyone? Have you done a survey?" Kid: "I mean everyone, because everyone must agree with me because I know I'm right, so there."

Indeed. Like the Kool aid drinking lefties who are so delusional that they think the Republicans will never win another election. It pretty much goes back and forth no matter what their spin. giggle.gif

Whether it has been a Democrat or a Republican in office, everyone since Carter has been somewhere to the right of Nixon domestically.
