Forms Needed to Obtain a Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

What kind of forms are needed to obtain a tourist visa now? I remember reading when the new rules were announced last November that one would need to show documents like bank account info and a ticket in/out of Thailand. Is that still the case? Folks I know who have used visa services say they've never been asked for any of that stuff. But I am thinking to obtain a new tourist visa when I quit my job and go to Japan in a couple months and I'm not aware of any visa services there. Sorry if this is posted somewhere on the forum, but I've been looking for the last hour and haven't found anything. Thx.

AFAIK unless you live in Japan visas are not issued by Thai Consulate. As for other locations what is required varies - and believe indeed has become more complex with the new multi entry tourist visa availability.

Applying for a single entry tourist visa only requires a completed application form, your passport and the visa fee.

Unless you are a Japanese citizen or legal resident of Japan you will not be able to obtain a Thai visa in Japan.

Ok, thx. Do you happen to know if the same thing is true for Taiwan?

Believe that is only in Japan that Thailand has that policy - but have seen mention that the new multi entry type may require residence/home country issue (but have not followed closely).

ํYou can get a single entry tourist visa in Taiwan. Info here: http://www.tteo.org.tw/main/th/services/5202/56235-Tourist-Visa-(TR---Single).html

Any idea how strict embassies are being on the round trip ticket?

Not all embassies and consulates will ask for a ticket out of the country. If one is asked for you can get a one way ticket to a nearby country.

Still thinking about this. Any idea what this means?

"5. A letter from a doctor or hospital in Thailand is needed for purposes of Medical Treatment in Thailand."

Where did you see this ?

You seem to have quoted something out of context.

The requirement is likely linked to obtaining a visa for the specific purpose of seeking medical treatment in Thailand.

That is only if you are applying for a "Tourist Visa Category “MT”.

It's listed under the required documents for obtaining a TR visa in Taiwan. But I think it's a mistake and meant for individuals obtaining a visa for medical purposes.

Not a mistake ! The heading is clear "This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for Tourism and Medical Treatment purposes."

The requirements, could I agree, have been more clearly stated.
