Non Imm-O based on marriage - consulate got me confused

Featured Replies

Hello all,

It is my 2nd time having to apply for a non imm O visa based on marriage at the Thai Consulate at my home country.

The first one was 6 years ago and I had my extension done without any issue until I left the country in 2014.

Now, I am coming back and the Thai consulate told me that after 90 days of entering Thailand, I have to do an extension with all the necessary documents + the 400K bank account which is not a problem for me.

But it is very confusing. Could you please confirm if it is true that after entering Thailand, I have 90 days to do an extension of stay? Or is it after the 1st year?

Thanks before hand.

Cheers.

A visa entry only allows up to 90 days stay - I suspect Consulate issued single entry - so after about 60 days you should visit immigration with wife and financial proof and other documents to extend for one year - and then you can continue doing so as you did before.

it will depend if you get a single entry or a multi entry non immigrant 'o', if a single then yes they are correct, if a multi you can do in the last 30 days of any entry.

Indeed, it is a single entry one.

Thanks for the confirmation lopburi and steve.

Indeed, this is so you have to go through the entire procedure to extend your visa after 90 days

A Visa cannot be extended.

He will be extending his permission to stay and needs to do it before the 90 days are up.
