how long left on my PP to get visa on arrival ?

Featured Replies

just wondering if i have enough left before they wont let me in , is it 3 months or 6 months ,only on a 2 week trip in and out holiday...............

If you wish to apply for a visa on arrival you will have to carry a passport issued by one of the countries listed in the link.

http://www.thaiembassy.sg/visa-matters-/-consular/visa-on-arrival

The link also details the conditions under which a VOA will be issued.

Visa On Arrival: At least 6 months,

Visa Exempt Entry: The passport only needs to be valid for duration of your stay.

Standard 6 months, you may even be denied aircraft boarding with less, is this the last time your going to travel?, get a new passport

Wrong.

The passport has to be valid for the length of stay.

Providing the op is asking about a Visa Exempt Entry and not a VOA.

Unless the OP posts to correct his initial post we can but reply to the question as stated in his first post, where he asked about the visa on arrival. Let's not confuse him with unofficial acronyms like VOA, which to him may mean Voice of America.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Wrong

Entry requirements
Passport validity

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand. Entry to Thailand is normally refused if you have a passport which is damaged or has pages missing.

If it was me in the OP situation, I would follow the advise of the UK Government website not a drop down list on KLM's website that might or might not be correct

The info is from a IATA database that contains info supplied to them by the Thai government. It is what airlines use to allow people to board flights. I trust it more than what any embassy puts on it's website.

Especially the UK Embassy website.

Then what are you worrying about then? go ahead with your travel plans and update us when you arrive

Believe what uj tells you. The information used by the airlines must be correct, and must be kept up to date. If the airlines do not follow the rules, they are liable to fines and other financial consequences. Other websites (especially including Thai official websites) are often incorrect/outdated.

OK what about the US state department? same advise as the UK government,

Iits stupid to travel anywhere on a passport with less than 6 months, what about if you have an accident and get delayed, your going to have a bigger headache sorting out a temporary passport

But, "up to you" as they say

The OP did not say he is a UK national and if he were he would not qualify for a visa on arrival.

That is arguably true. I personally probably would not, as it would rule out side trips to neighboring countries. The question, though, was about what is required. For visa exempt entries, Thailand only insists that the passport be valid for the length of your proposed stay. Some on a package tour, for instance, might decide their itinerary is fixed and their passport with 4 months validity is fine.

Assuming our OP has a UK passport he can get up to 9 months of extra validity on his new passport, so no loss of validity if renewing early.

Better safe than sorry in this case.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

  • 2 weeks later...

So how did you get on OP please do a follow up
