Total starts up Laggan-Tormore, West of Shetland

Featured Replies

The French major Total has started up production from the Laggan and Tormore gas and condensate fields in the West of Shetland area after a substantial delay in the contractor Petrofac's construction work.

The fields will produce 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). Others will join it, with Totals Edradour due to start next year; and Glenlivet.

A pioneer project delivers the first UK production

David Cook, Executive Vice President for DONG Energy Oil & Gas said:

This marks our first UK production and is an exciting step forward for our business. Laggan-Tormore has been a pioneer project to develop new infrastructure and to secure gas production from this frontier area of the UK Continental Shelf. To do this we have worked closely with some of our peers in the UK oil industry as well as the authorities and have established an important strategic position for our business.
