Proof of Residence

Featured Replies

Thai Immigration Jomtien seems to be changing the Proof of Residence documentation requirement for Retirement Visa applications. This seems to be a work in progress. Does anyone know for certain what the new requirement is?

Renewed my retirment visa last Friday, nothing ref address asked for. I showed them a sophon bill, but they ignored it.

Two weeks ago they accepted a rental agreement in my name, written in Thai and English along with a copy of the landlords ID card and tibian ban.

I get the impression that they are far more stringent the first time you extend. The longer you have been doing it the less they seem to care, which makes sense to me.

Do you refer to the often discussed TM30 (registration of your residence by the landlord at police)?

Not so new.

Wife renewed her 12 month retirement extension today. I read all of the doom and gloom posts on TV and Expat websites, went prepared, copies of land deeds, house book etc.

They were not interested. We were out of there within ten minutes (seriously). I only just had time to park the car after dropping her off and she had paid her 1,900 and was on her way out.

She showed them a water bill. Seemed happy with that so did not volunteer other documents we had as backup.

Could be if you appear to be lying, you probably are and they will ask for more.

A pleasurable experience.

I used my TOT bill when I got an extension two months ago. They evidently wanted some form of proof of address as the girl tucked it in with the bundle of paperwork and daubed it with a yellow highlighter and even asked me to sign it (along with everything else).
