Trying to change 3BB Modem Router - error page

Featured Replies

I'm trying to change the supplied 3BB cheapo router that doesn't play well with some of my devices and have configured the ADSL sign credentials into the router I want to change to. The ADSL and internet lights are green but as soon as I try to open a web page I get a 3BB sign on message that is telling me to either check my sign on passwords (and that is entered 100% correct on the router) and as an alternative telling me that only one session can be active at any one time.

Having been through all the settings on both routers the only thing I can think of is that the 3BB router is not dropping the connection and the network thinks another router is trying to log on. Anyone else come across this? Bit of PITA because every other ISP I've used it's been easy to switch routers just by entering the correct sign on credentials. Not with this it seems. I left the 3BB line unconnected for a fair few minutes before plugging in to the new router but still I get the message. I will ask at 3BB there when I go tomorrow or call one of their techs out (dreading the thought of that!!) if the connection doesn't drop next time I unplug it for an hour or so.

Patience levels running thin now and it's getting close to the stage where I'm gonna jump up and down on the 3BB modem, send a photo to them and say I think this might not be working.

I could put the 3BB modem into bridge mode and plug the other router into to it do do the routing but I'd rather not have the 3BB junk in the chain at all, just more clutter.

Sorted this after wasting a complete morning. Called tech support who double checked the password. The sheet I have was missing one of the letters being capitalised in the user password!!!! Grrrrrrrrr

I know the story the other way round.

Once got a handwritten note with a WiFi password like:

ABC12345

tried over and over to no success.

??

Its was like:

abc12345

They wrote down whats on the the keycaps ("ABC") biggrin.png

Very frustrating. Literally spent ALL morning trying many things including inputting the user name and password over and over. Never considered what I'd been supplied with as the credentials would contain typos!! Grrrrrrrr

Glad you got it sorted.

I see it all the time when people (machines) allocate passwords with both "I" and "l" in them, the only way to be sure is to copy and paste, then you find the app / website doesn't allow you to paste the password.

Grrrr.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

If they come to install, it should be setup before you leave.

If you pick up the modem from the 3bb office, it is supposed to be pre-activated.

In both cases, you get acct summary welcome page with 3bb username/pass.

They come with 1 year warranty. Even the non-wifi, 1 lan port 100 baht modem.

You can call them out for free. Easier to use the form: http://www.3bb.co.th/contact/tech_call.php?id=3 . Or email if the form is not working.

I prefer the form. You can just copy template of your name, acct #, location, google maps link, etc. I save it in 1Password so all that is needed is for me to input my problem.

Yes they had set up the modem/router, it was working fine (except for the hardware compatibility issues with some of the functionality on devices I use), and I had the account summary sheet BUT, as I said above, the password had a typo it it. Didn't want to call them out to fit another modem / router that I had as it SHOULD be something easy to DIY. IF, that is, your password on the summary sheet is correct :(
