Ive been meaning to ask this for ages but keep forgetting, can someone tell me what the English meaning is to the words, sawang borriboon (spelt something like that ! ) you know the guy's that pick up all the dead people in the pattaya area.

I am not familiar with this group, but judging from your romanized spelling, I guess their name could be

สว่างบริบูรณ์

...which, if correct, means something like "Perfect Light" สว่าง meaning bright and บริบูรณ์ meaning "perfect; full; complete".

Sorry to hijack this thread, but what's the difference between "borriboon" that pop3 mentioned and "borisood". I thought that borisood was the word for perfect :o

Both have the connotation of 'perfect', but the other connotations differ between the two.

As I mentioned above, บริบูรณ์ has the connotations "full; complete; absolute" whereas บริสุทธิ์ has the connotations "immaculate; pure; innocent; flawless; sincere; unbiased".

So 'perfect', but in different ways, the one being perfect in the sense "lacking nothing - having everything" whereas the other is perfect in the sense "untouched, without a fault, without a scratch, pure"...

I hope that makes sense. I have not seen the two words used enough in writing to give you examples, perhaps somebody else could?

The most commonly used words for 'perfect' (at least in my experience) are สมบูรณ์ and เลิศ.

Yet another word for yet another sense of 'perfect' is ดีพร้อม, which I think applies more to the idea of being perfected in one's attitudes/behaviors. If you are ดีพร้อม, then you are consistently good, never doing wrong.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, I've heard it used in the negative a lot, since I have yet to meet someone who is perfect. ผมไม่ใช่คนดีพร้อม "I'm not perfect."

Also, very good, clear explanations of the other words, Meadish, as always.
