'Critical times' for EU say the bloc’s founding members



"Without any doubt, Europe is going through one of its hardest moments since its foundation"

ROME: -- Against a backdrop of deep divisions within the EU over the migration crisis, the bloc’s six founding members put on a united front at a meeting in Rome on Tuesday.

Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg pledged to pursue “ever closer union”, although they acknowledged that the EU was facing “very challenging times.”

Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, said: “Without any doubt, Europe is going through one of its hardest moments since its foundation around 60 years ago – what with the combination of migration flows, terrorist threats, the challenge of the UK referendum and the protracted consequences of the financial and economic crisis.”

The six nations said in a statement that they were “concerned” about the state of “the European project.”

“Indeed, it appears to be facing very challenging times. It is in these critical times that we, as founding members, feel particularly called upon.”

The original signatories of the Treaty of Rome also said in the statement: “We remain resolved to continue the process of creating an ever closer union among the people of Europe.”

They called for better management of external borders, while preserving freedom of movement within the bloc.

I wonder if all the people eligible to vote in those countries were asked if they wanted "ever closer union" or not, what the answer would be.

Still, as one German Minister put it - elections can't be allowed to change things. The politicians and bureaucrats know what's best for the Sheeple of Europe.

No one cares what the people want. They are there to be ruled not served.

Let each country in the EU have a referendum on a federal government of Europe. Ha-Ha-Ha .... No way.

The E.U is a basket case , just the rich nations supporting the poorer ones , its only there as a gravy train for those who ride it , nothing in it for the ordinary person .

The measure of how good a country is isn't determined by the problems it has, but how it handles them.

A lot of European countries aren't doing so well.

These are critical times indeed, the internationalist left have miscalculated the speed of and chaos caused by the mass migrations of third world hostiles. Their assault on national identity and dismantling of nation states was going ahead pretty well until this little miscalculation. Hopefully Europe can regain its national identities and turf the traitors out to live with those who recognize no nation except themselves. That would be poetic justice.

It is time that the EU sees themself as a common interest group. Common values, culture and economy.
But that millions of Imigrants from completely different cultures overrun our countries and destroy our social systems, must be stopped.

We have regrettably politicians who no longer see the interests of there own citizens.
These traitorous politicians belong into prison.
