Suspected car thief caught after falling asleep in pick up in Pathum Thani

PATHUM THANI:-- A suspected car thief has been arrested after police found him asleep in the car he was allegedly trying to steal.

Somneuk Riabhaud, 37, was found on Wednesday morning fast asleep and wrapped in a pink blanket behind the driver's seat of a Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck.

Following his arrest Somneuk, told police that he broke into the car, which was found with a smashed window on the passenger side, because he was cold and wanted somewhere warm to sleep.

The owner of the vehicle, student Natthawut Kultrakarn, 18, told police that although car had been damaged, it did not appear that anything was missing from inside the vehicle.

Somneuk remains in police custody pending further investigations after being charged with damaging the vehicle.

Nope. I completely agree with you. The guy was probably homeless and cold, but since that indicates he's poor, they'll probably toss on some additional charges for good measure.

The guy could have maybe knocked on the door and asked to come inside and sleep on the floor.

Yeah. That's what he should have done.

If a guy is freezing and starving and knocks on my door and asks nicely for help, odds are, I'll bend over backwards to help him.

If he breaks a window in my truck and passes out drunk in the back seat, I'm calling the cops.

He hardly looks sober under his pink blanket, curled up in the back seat, dead to the lights, camera, action, of a truck he just broke into.

Yes, I'd call the cops too. I am just saying that I believe his story, not the headline that he wanted to steal the truck.

And if true, I would probably feel sorry for him.
